New Triage System Trial – Week commencing 25th November 2024
The week of 25th to 29th November, we will be trialling a new triage system for Peacock Surgery. This involves a GP being part of our Reception Team, triaging calls as they come in. This will happen at both branches.
What does this mean for patients?
It may take longer for our team to answer calls next week, as they will be conferring with a GP over some calls.
Why are we doing this?
We want to unify how we work over both sites. In addition, our clinical team is struggling to meet our daily demand. Our Reception Team are not clinically trained, so are not in a position to judge urgent medical needs versus matters that can wait a little. On a daily basis, our Duty Doctors are managing double the amount of patients deemed safe by the British Medical Association. Having a GP ‘on shift’ with the Reception Team will mean we triage more effectively.
The Partners are meeting next Saturday 30th November, to discuss the impact of the trial, both positive and negative, and debate how we move forward. Our Reception Team will be part of this meeting.
We apologise in advance for any delays caused to answering calls while we conduct this trial, and we thank you for your support.
